Moama has swept all before it in the BCGR Premier League in seven consecutive games to finish on top of the ladder heading into the Christmas break.

After knocking off the undefeated Bendigo in round eight, the Steamers accounted for the second-last Golden Square at the weekend to notch their seventh straight victory, leap-frogging Bendigo into first spot.

The Steamers were on song at Golden Square, getting three rinks up again to finish 2023 on a high.

Travis Kelly had Moama’s biggest win of the day with a nine-shot result over opposing skip Andrew Brown, while Cameron Keenan (22-15) and Kevin Anderson (21-15) rounded out the winning rinks.

Travis Berry defeated Peter Campbell as the sole victor for a gallant Square.

But it would matter little as Moama ascended to the top of the standings, completing a swift turnaround that saw the Steamers go from 0-2 to 7-2 and catapult themselves into flag favouritism.

The Steamers share win-loss equality with Bendigo and South Bendigo, with the latter bringing up a 24-shot win over Eaglehawk.

Meanwhile, Bendigo stumbled to its second consecutive loss, this time at the hands of Bendigo East.

Kangaroo Flat rounded out the winners in round nine.

A month-long wait begins for premier pennant’s resumption, with Moama facing South Bendigo in the first game after the break.
