The Cobram Tigers have continued their fantastic start to the Murray Football League season, producing a convincing win against Rumbalara on Saturday afternoon.
It was all Cobram from the beginning of the contest, with the home team holding a 37-point lead at quarter time.
The Tigers went on to extend this lead as the game wore on, eventually running out 21.24 (150) to 1.3 (9) victors.
Darcy McCormack enjoyed a memorable day out, with the talent playing his 100th senior game for the club.
Not only was the big win significant for Cobram’s season but also for the club, with four sets of brothers all playing in the match.
In the senior side was Sam, Harry and Jack Beasley, Luca and Matteo Allen, Lachlan and Hugh Hyde and Bailey and Lucas Roberts.
Three of these players were named among Cobram’s best on the day, with Harry Beasley, Sam Beasley and Luca Allen joined by Timothy Garlick and Darcy Pridham-McCormack on the list.
At the Moama Recreation Reserve, Barooga fell to the undefeated Moama by 27 points.
The 11.16 (82) to 8.7 (55) win had plenty of positives for the visiting side, with Barooga in the match throughout.
A disappointing third term saw Moama’s lead blow out, with the magpies outscoring the Hawks 12 points to two.
Barooga coach Jackson Trengove returned to the side for the game, with Callum Leighton Daly, William Clarke, Peter Francis and Riley Gow among the Hawks best.
Next week Barooga will play host to Echuca United, with both sides searching for their first win of the year, while Cobram will look to continue its undefeated start to the year when it travels to Nathalia.
In the Murray Netball League it was a disappointing afternoon for both Cobram and Barooga.
In Cobram, the Tigers fell to a classy Rumbalara side, with Rumba running out 21 to 54 winners.
Meanwhile at Moama, Barooga fell in a 47 to 24 loss to Moama.
It has been a difficult season for both Murray Netball sides, with Barooga only winning one game so far this season and Cobram remaining winless.
