The Nagambie Golf Club's recent par event was a true test of skill, with 26 golfers braving fierce northerly winds that swept across the course.
The challenging conditions took their toll, as not a single player managed to match their handicap on the day.
A tight finish saw four players locked in a -1 deadlock, necessitating a countback to crown the victor. Jim Doyle emerged triumphant, narrowly edging out Nagambie's rising junior star, Ryan Ezard, who claimed second place.
Shaun Spicer secured the third spot, while Graeme Keogh rounded out the quartet of -1 finishers.
For his efforts, Doyle took home the coveted Seymour Club matchday voucher. In a move that drew appreciative nods from his fellow golfers, Doyle kept his acceptance speech refreshingly succinct.
The day’s blustery conditions made the nearest-the-pin contests particularly daunting. David Love, however, managed to tame the tricky 3rd hole, using the tailwind to his advantage to find the green.
Graeme Keogh, renowned for his pinpoint accuracy, was the only other player to hit pay dirt, landing his shot on the 16th green.
Looking ahead, the club’s next event will feature a monthly medal competition.
