NCWL fixtures announced, Friday night games on the menu

The fixture list of the Northern Country Women’s League has been announced, the calendar boasting a swathe of Friday night fixtures under lights.

All three opening round games will be played on a Friday, April 1, with the league announcing night games will become a regularity throughout the season.

Reigning premier Nathalia will take on Tatura at Nathalia Showgrounds, with minor-premier Echuca to take on Shepparton United at Kialla Park.

Mooroopna and Benalla will kick off the season on Mooroopna’s Main Oval, with all three games starting at 7pm.

Two byes are scheduled throughout the season on April 16 and May 22 due to Easter and interleague fixtures.

This year the league will look different to last, with the youth girls making the move across to the NCWL from Shepparton District Junior Football League.

The youth fixture list will be announced by the league once all teams have been confirmed.

A pre-season cup prior to round one is also pencilled in for Sunday, March 20, which will include a round-robin tournament involving teams from across Victoria.
