Women’s event
It was a successful weekend for the Rutherglen Golf Club, holding the ladies’ and \mens’ annual tournaments over the two days.
A warm August morning greeted the 37 golfers competing in the ladies’ event on Saturday. The course was in great condition and some fantastic prizes were on offer for the winners, including a $500 hole-in-one sponsored by Cofield & Co Plumbing.
The competition forms part of the Heather Eggleston Sandgreen Championships, with the team’s event sponsored by A J Francis, and the Ladies Event sponsored by Chandler Builders.
The eventual A-Grade winner was Heather Thompson, and the runner-up was Libby McCrystal, who also took out the longest drive and nearest to the pin on the 4th.

Men’s event
A huge turnout on Sunday for the men’s event saw 73 golfers from around the North East compete for the Rutherglen Championships, sponsored by J & M Steel Erections.
The forecast thunderstorms held off until the afternoon, allowing some impressive scores on the day and competitive golf. Winners took home engraved barrels provided by Timber, Steel & Stone, N&K Designs, and Stanton & Killeen Wines. The Rutherglen Golf Club would like to thank all sponsors over the weekend and the players who contributed to a successful tournament.
