OKFNL ǀ Seniors go down, reserves salute on Bats premiership reunion weekend

A dynasty in the making: The Beavis family including Dylan (senior footballer), Chelsea (A-grade netballer), Mark (major sponsor and past player) and Jacinta (A-grade netballer) during the reunion weekend.

Goorambat Football Netball Club wishes to thank all those who turned out to Goorambat on Saturday with a great turnout from our sponsors and past players for our Past Players Reunion & Sponsors Appreciation Day. A great day was had by all.

Seniors

Goorambat 0-0 0-0 0-0 0-3 3

Bonnie Doon 3-0 3-2 4-5 4-5 29

The senior game against Bonnie Doon was a little one-sided, as Bonnie Doon played a much more desperate game in the slippery conditions, and it appeared they wanted the football a lot more than our boys.

Blake Uebergang played a good game all day, along with Perry Knox down back to keep the boys in a winnable position, but the boys were struggling to get a score on the board, which took until the last quarter to achieve this.

The boys have a huge task next week against the All Blacks on their home ground in the last game before finals, so good luck boys and let’s see if we can turn things around.

Best players: Blake Uebergang (Peter Davis Rural), Nathan Farley (Goorambat Royal Hotel), Will Greenhalgh (The Royal Hotel), Cooper McCoy (Hollywood’s Pizza), Perry Knox (Brew & amp; Toasties), Travers Nolan (Club dinner).

Reserves

Goorambat 2-3 3-5 5-6 6-6 42

Bonnie Doon 0-1 0-2 1-3 1-3 9

The reserves had a great game against old rivals Bonnie Doon in slippery conditions at Goorambat in front of a big crowd, playing some excellent wet weather football.

Andy Ellis was in everything around the ground while Darcy Edgar was winning in the ruck, with Zeb Griffin a welcome addition to the side with his strength at ground level.

The ever-reliable Simon Briggs and Kobe Black playing their part as they do every week, so credit to the boys and let’s see if we can finish off the home-and-away games next week with another win.

Best players: Andy Ellis (Bouwmeesters Bakery), Darcy Edgar (Royal Hotel), Zeb Griffin (The Good Guys), Kobe Black (Bill-Bo-Pop), Simon Briggs (Sports Power).

Goals: Jack Trevena 3, Gary Priest 1, Kobi Black 1, Andy Ellis 1.
