Waaia’s stocks are on the rise: the return of prodigal son Mitch Cleeland has bolstered an already stacked Bombers outfit as it gears up for an all-out Picola District Football League premiership push in 2022.

It was a force to be reckoned with last year and it won’t be much different this season; the Bombers’ brainstrust keeping its hottest prospects at Waaia Recreation Reserve to have a formidable side brewing.

Waaia stalwart Mark Meyland assumes the coaching role again, with Cleeland expected join him in the role of co-coach.

“Mitch comes back in after a year away, he’ll have a massive impact and will step in to coach this year,” Meyland said.

Along with Cleeland, the Bombers gain Connor Brown back from Nathalia, while Lachie Wright makes the switch from Barooga.

With returnees shoring up positions across their list, Meyland is also excited to see his young Bombers fly this season.

“Harvey Walker’s looked really good in pre-season and he’s only 18 years old, Jayden Clarke is another one coming up through the ranks and will be really important for us,” he said.

If there’s one thing Bombers faithful want to see this year, it’s for their side to get the job done come finals, having gone down in heartbreaking fashion for the past two seasons.
