Rennie will be hoping it can improve on last week’s Picola and District Netball League loss against Katamatite when it takes on league heavyweight Waaia at home on Saturday.

The Grasshoppers have had a mixed start to the season, smashing Mathoura in round one before suffering a 20-goal loss in round three against Katamatite.

For Waaia it has been a faultless start, winning both games it has played, including an impressive round one victory over Strathmerton.

Rennie coach Paula Mifka said it would be a difficult test playing Waaia.

“They’re always pretty physical,” Mifka said.

“Looking at their results, they had a win against Strathmerton; all in all, they are always competitive and a very physical opponent.”

Mifka said there were plenty of positives for the side so far this season, and there was still plenty of time to improve.

“I think we’re just going to specifically work on, across the club really, passing and making those right decisions, not panicking and resetting — things like that,” she said.

“There were a lot of good takeaways from our last game (against Katamatite), that match fitness and match practice is going to be the key for us.

“It’s a positive because we get to play 18 rounds, so hopefully we just build and build on that.”

Waaia will go into the contest as favourite; however, with a week off last week, Rennie will be hoping the Bombers have lost their touch.

In other games, Katamatite will welcome Katunga, with the clash set to be part of Katamatite’s 125-year club anniversary celebration.

Not only will this game be part of the celebration but it will be a celebration in itself, with the official netball court opening set to be held.

Mathoura and Katandra will battle it out after a week off, while Blighty will play host to Picola United.

Tocumwal will make the trip to Deni to take on the Deni Rovers, while Strathmerton, Jerilderie and Tungamah will have a week off.
