It is shaping up to be an immense weekend of Picola District Netball League A-grade action, with four clubs vying for the two remaining places in the preliminary finals.

After two entertaining qualifying finals last weekend, it is now do-or-die for all involved, with teams needing to win to keep their post-season campaign alive.

This weekend Yarroweyah and Picola will play host to semi-final action, with Katunga taking on Katamatite on Saturday and Picola set to play a home game against Waaia on Sunday.

The Saturday afternoon contest is sure to be an enthralling one, with Katunga finishing fifth on the table and Katamatite fourth.

Coming off a gallant loss to Strathmerton last week, the Tigers will be looking to bounce back and the Swans will need to be wary.

Katunga team manager Danielle Henderson said last time the sides met the Swans had a number of outs, so it would be good to do battle with a full team this weekend.

“It’s obviously going to be a warm one, so picking our moments when to go, when to stay, all that sort of thing will be crucial,” Henderson said.

“We’re really excited and looking forward to what we know will be a pretty good challenge.

“Katamatite are obviously a very good side, so it’s going to be a tough one, but we’re definitely up for it that’s for sure.”

Last time the Swans were in action was their elimination final win over Tocumwal, with the side picking up an eight-goal victory.

Henderson said there were a number of areas the side had looked to improve from this match, with the week off providing plenty of time to tinker.

“We’re just excited which is always a good thing,” she said.

“Positive energy makes such a big difference and the trainings the last few weeks have just been a lot of fun.

“Obviously we’re taking it very seriously, but also remembering to have a laugh and just enjoy the moments we’re having together and the memories we’re making.”

Saturday afternoon’s game at Yarroweyah is due to begin at 1.30.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Picola United will face the daunting challenge of Waaia.

A home game is sure to provide a boost to United, while the side will have plenty of confidence from its elimination final win over Jerilderie.

Yet despite the positives, Sunday afternoon’s encounter is sure to be a tough one, with Waaia falling to Tungamah by just one goal last week.

This game could go either way, with a quick start crucial to getting across the line.

Sunday’s game at Picola is due to being at 1.30pm.
