After almost a month of no netball, Tungamah returned to the Picola and District League A-grade courts in style over the weekend.
The Bears produced a convincing win on Saturday afternoon at home to the Deni Rovers, with a 60-15 victory showing they mean business.
It has been an interrupted start to the season for the Bears with a week off in round two, three and four meaning little netball has been played so far this season.
As a result of these missing weeks, Tungamah went into round five without playing a game since round one and despite this break, it was dominant on the court.
Tungamah coach Jayanna Sharp said after a rough start to the first term the side managed to bounce back strongly.
“We slowly got on our feet halfway through that quarter and our defensive pressure was great,” Sharp said.
“To keep a team to 15 goals in any grade is great so it was really good from attack to defence so that was good.
“Our rotations in the goal ring were excellent this week and we really utilised that a lot more and we will going forward.”
Sharp said Chelsea Sidebottom had a great game for the Bears on Saturday, as did Annie Seccull in wing attack.
It was also a big day for 14-year-old Shylee Brown, with the young talent making her debut for the A-grade side in the big win.
“She held herself very well in the end of the quarter and the girls supported her really well,” Sharp said.
“We feel like we’ve just started the season again so we’re keen to get going and put everything we’re learning into our game and obviously we’re looking to develop a few of our juniors this year with such a mature side.”
Tungamah’s win was the biggest of the round, with plenty of close A-grade action happening on the courts.
At Katunga, Jerilderie took home the points against Katunga with a three-goal win, while Rennie also won away from home, with a 21-point win over Katandra.
Katamatite continued its good run of form by beating Picola United in Picola while Tocumwal won a one-point thriller at home to Blighty.
Strathmerton, Mathoura and Waaia all had a week off.
