Kyabram may have its famed No.10 line-up in Sunday’s Goulburn Valley League decider if a Supreme Court judge gives the green light.
Bomber stalwart Kayne Pettifer will appear at the Supreme Court on Friday in a bid to run out on Deakin Reserve, despite currently serving a five-match suspension.
Pettifer is seeking an injunction that would allow the 41-year-old to take to the field for one final time.
The talented forward announced before the finals series that this would be his final season.
The ex-AFL talent was found guilty at the tribunal on September 6 for kneeing Mansfield opponent Luke Menhennet during the elimination final win over Mansfield earlier this month.
Pettifer and the Bombers appealed the AFL Goulburn Murray tribunal decision, but it was dismissed.
Kyabram coach Paul Newman confirmed that Pettifer would be seeking an injunction to enable him to run out in the grand final.
“Kayne’s hearing is tomorrow morning,” Newman said on Thursday.
“He is taking it to the Supreme Court to push for an injunction order, it’s effectively a stay of proceedings.
“Obviously, the case won’t be heard by the weekend, which is why, there must be some sort of grey area where they can impose an injunction order and then he can play until that hearing can be heard at a later date.
“I’m pretty sure that it’s 9.30am tomorrow (Friday) morning, so we’ll see how he goes.”
AFL Goulburn Murray declined to comment.
