Last Friday evening, the Deniliquin Lawn Tennis Club held their Christmas Party and intro to pickleball at the club from 6pm.
Members and non-members were welcome to come along for some Christmas cheer and look at the new game sweeping the world at present.
Pickleball player and Pickleball Association Australia executive officer Brendan Lee conducted the introduction.
The session was insightful, with attendees able to take part in the demonstration and give pickleball a go on the courts in the clubhouse, once used for squash.
The courts, due to their length, were modified using equipment brought by Lee.
Luckily the weather did not impact on the night, as pickleball can be played indoors.
A few doubles pickleball games were then played, with players free to have a hit throughout the evening before enjoying the barbecue dinner.
The tennis club is considering hosting a pickleball tournament in the new year, which will depend on interest.
Anyone interested in pickleball can also get a taste for the sport at the Deniliquin Stadium on Tuesday nights, with games starting at 7pm.
There are no fees to play pickleball until after Christmas, and no need to pre-book.
