It’s official, all roads lead to Katunga.

The home of the Swans has been announced as this year’s Picola and District Football Netball League grand final venue, with the Katunga Recreation Reserve to play host to the big dance.

Initially set to host the 2020 decider, Katunga has been waiting since 2019 for the return of the finals series, with the club the next in line on the Picola League’s rotating list.

PDFNL operations manager Shane Railton said nearly every club in the league had now hosted the grand final.

“Katunga used to be the traditional home for the final before we started the rotation,” Railton said.

“Since we started the rotation process it is now back there and with the exception of Tocumwal every club has now hosted a final.

“I wouldn’t think there would be too many leagues in country Victoria that can say that.”

Railton said with the difficulties that COVID-19 had brought, an exciting finals series will be a way to increase participation numbers again.

“A finals series will do wonders for every league to help football,” he said.

“Finals are such a good way to celebrate sides that have been successful throughout the year.”

While Katunga will play host to the main contest, there are plenty of other towns set to see finals action, with Jerilderie, Berrigan, Katamatite, Blighty, Yarroweyah, Picola, Rennie and Tocumwal all set to host finals games.
