The Goulburn Valley League’s night of nights was held Monday at the GV Hotel in Shepparton, with new winners of the Morrison and Wellman medals crowned.

Echuca’s Sam Reid was the Murray Bombers top vote-getter with 20 to finish fourth in the Morrison Medal. Seymour’s Jack O’Sullivan took out the top prize with 28, one ahead of Kyabram’s Kaine Herbert.

Rochester’s Mitch Cricelli capped off a top year by finishing in third.

Behind Reid in the count in fifth was Tigers midfielder Joe Atley, who didn’t leave empty-handed after being recognised as the senior football MVP.

Raging pre-count favourite Will Hayes (Euroa) finished equal sixth with 15 votes.

In the Wellman Medal, familiar face Steph Vick led the charge for Echuca.

The two-time league medallist rounded out the season by finishing fourth in the count with 21 votes as 18-year-old Elsie Boyer (Tatura) took the top prize.

Vick and Echuca will face Euroa in this Sunday’s A-grade netball grand final at Deakin Reserve.

A league medal will head to Moon Oval in 2023, with Jaime Dingwall taking out the Sandra Cox B-grade award.

It was also a special night for long-time Murray Bombers volunteer Vince Jessen, elected as a Life Member of the GVL.
