The Darlington Point Coleambally Rugby League Football Club reunion will take place this weekend.

The weekend will kick off with the club raffles on Friday night at the Brolga Hotel Motel Coleambally.

There will be schooner draws and meat raffles. You might be lucky enough to win 16 schooners for you and your mates.

On Saturday, the Darlington Point Coleambally Roosters take on the Griffith Black & Whites at the Coleambally Number 1 oval.

The day starts at 10.45am with the under-16s, followed by league tag at 12pm, reserves at 1pm and first grade kicking off at 2.30pm.

Lunch and refreshments - including a beer tent - will be available throughout the day.

After the first grade game, everyone is invited back to the Coleambally Club to catch up with past and present players and supporters.

There will be caps ($25), stubby holders ($10) and a DPC 50 year booklet ($10) available for purchase at the reunion. A package of all three can be bought for $40. Payments will be taken on the day.

A smorgasbord will be available for $25 per person on the night.

To pre-order a pack or for more information, contact Deb Whelan on 0428 544 381.

The Coleambally Garden Club hosted its inaugural Friendship Luncheon on Saturday, and what a fantastic day it was, with more than 45 in attendance.

The food was absolutely delicious, and Roy Duffel gave a very interesting and informative presentation.

Well done to all members for your wonderful efforts in making the day a huge success.

Thank you also to members of the Griffith, Narrandera and Leeton clubs for their attendance.

The next monthly meeting will be on Saturday, September 7.

The group hopes to welcome some new members. Marlyn Laurie is the contact, on 0417 548 817.

Save the date - the Coleambally Community ‘Yard Giveaway’ is happening again on September 14, 9am-12pm.

A positive response to the first 18 months ago prompted the Uniting Church to run this event again, as well as the ever-increasing cost of living affecting many families.

Many of us have quality items lying around the home we don’t use that could be provided to those who could use or need it.

The group is asking our community to gather items to donate.

To combat growing food security concerns - with foodbank.org.au reporting as many as 3.7 million Australian households are estimated to have experienced food insecurity in the past 12 months - donations of food items are also encouraged.

Items can be brought down on the day, or contact Rae Collier on 0419 984 310 for more information.

The church will also be holding a cake stall on the day with cakes and slices for sale, so pop in after voting in the local government elections let them tempt your taste buds!

Drivers of all vehicles are reminded that to be seen during the day, especially on foggy mornings, you should use your low beam and/or fog lamps.
