The Benalla Football Netball Club is holding a psychic and auction night next month as a fundraiser for one of its own.

Danielle Hutchins, a 46-year-old mother-of-four and beloved player for the Benalla Saints women's football team, suffered a horrendous head injury early in the 2022 season against Shepparton United.

Along with a serious concussion and brain bleed, Hutchins also suffered a stroke soon after the incident, resulting in a long and difficult recovery.

Saints women’s co-coach Russell Lowe said Hutchins’ injury had impacted everyone involved at the club.

"To see someone like Hutchy, who is so loved by everyone she meets, laying on the oval due to this accident definitely hit the team and supporters hard," he said.

"We want to do everything we can to help her during her rehabilitation, which is ongoing."

Due to ongoing symptoms and injuries, Hutchins is unable to work due to the many necessary scans and medical appointments.

Despite everything she is going through, Hutchins has continued her involvement with the women’s team — volunteering her time on game day and supporting the girls at training.

The fundraiser would not be possible without the help of Catherine Rose, an internationally certified psychic medium, who heard of Hutchins’ situation though a mutual friend and offered her services to help organise the event.

Rose has worked as a medium for a number of years, and works to create spiritual awareness through insightful private readings, platform events, and ‘at home with spirit’ parties.

The club is extremely grateful for her help and is excited to experience what her session will bring to the fundraiser.

As well as Rose’s session, guests will be able to bid on a number of items kindly donated by sponsors and teammates as part of the auction.

Signed sports memorabilia, firewood and numerous other items and experiences will be going under the hammer, with all profits from the night going to Hutchins.

"This fundraiser will be a way we can ease the burden with the ongoing medical costs and bills that have accumulated whilst Hutchy is in rehabilitation, as she can no longer work to provide for her family,“ Lowe said.

The Benalla Saints Psychic and Auction night will take place on Saturday, August 6 at 7pm in the Benalla Showgrounds Glasshouse.

Entry tickets are $40, with nibbles provided and drinks at bar prices.
