Score doesn’t reflect effort

While the scoreboard was one sided in the Picola Football and District League match between Blighty and Katandra on Saturday, coach Kyel Bain said it didn’t reflect the effort the boys put in.

In a home game for Blighty, Bain said he was happy with the tackling an handball game which was “looking good at times”.

“It is just lapses in the quarters that are proving quite costly,” he said.

Final score: Blighty 2.4 (16) lost to Katandra 34.22 (226).

Kevin Maroney was best on ground playing through the middle.

Isaac Suckling played a great game down back and Tom Edwards was good in the ruck and forward all day.

John Mitchell took this grab playing for Blighty reserves on the weekend.

The Blighty reserves come up against a young, fit Katandra side.

The Redeyes started slow while Katandra moved the ball fast and won it out of the middle.

After half time the boys lifted their attack on the footy, which resulted in a goal to finish out the match.

Final score: Blighty 1.2 (8) lost to Katandra 18.13 (121).

Best on ground was Paul Walters who rucked hard all day while battling a cold.

Others who preformed well were Zac Noonan, Riley Webb, Chris Hovenden and Hovey and Odin Haynes-Smith.
