Eastern Hill walked away with the bragging rights over cross-town rival Seymour following its dominant 63-run victory at the weekend.

The Eagles, led by a stellar 92-run knock from Ben Bryant, were far too strong for Seymour in the round 15 encounter at Chittick Park which locks them into top spot on the Seymour District Cricket Association A-grade ladder.

Eastern Hill won the toss and decided to bat first, with Dallas Bergowicz getting dismissed for four runs early on. However, Bryant put on a fantastic performance as he rescued the visitors from early trouble.

Bryant scored nine boundaries and one six in his 92 runs which helped Eastern Hill to a total of 6-190 from 41 overs.

In response, Seymour struggled with the bat and only managed to score 127 runs in 40 overs.

Fraser Lewis (2-31), Bryant (2-23), Jake Sutherland (3-23) and Tim Rudd-Schmidt (2-13) all contributed with wickets.

Seymour will have the opportunity to bounce back and get back in the winners’ circle in its next match.

Elsewhere, Tallarook skipped away to chalk up an emphatic victory over Broadford.

In a delayed start to the contest due to rain, Tallarook won the toss and elected to bat first.

Tallarook got off to a horror start with opener Josh Rudge dismissed for a duck in just the first over.

Broadford’s bowlers kept the pressure on as the Rook’s Ben Tarran (two runs) and Shane Topham (five) fell cheaply.

It took an important innings and half-century knock from Kasey Duncan (57), along with a strong middle-order partnership between skipper Lachlan Watts (39) and Leigh Irving (53), to get Tallarook to a competitive total.

Duncan raced away to 57 runs from 68 deliveries as Tallarook ended on 6-173 after 41 overs.

In reply, Broadford never really got going. The batters found it difficult against Tallarook’s accurate bowlers and were eventually bowled out for 106.

Mitch Collier contributed with 35 runs and was Broadford’s top scorer.

Tallarook’s Tarran (3-30) and Topham (2-14) were the pick of the bowlers.
