When birdie putts are made, laughs are shared and money is raised for charity at the Mooroopna Golf Club on Friday, somewhere the late Stuart Davidson will be smiling with approval.
The Rotary Club of Mooroopna will organise the second annual Stuart Davidson Memorial Charity Golf Day, with the proceeds going towards local charities.
This Friday will be the second edition after the first edition was hosted last year.
Davidson was an avid golfer and long-time member at the Rotary club.
Kelvin Rogash, one of the event’s organisers, said the Rotary club found it fitting to name the charity golf day in Davidson’s honour.
“Stuart was really well known in the golf circle and he was very big on helping people,” he said.
“He was a very generous man, he was always thinking of others and he was also a very good golfer.
“We started up the charity golf day last year and we think it’s only fitting (to run a charity golf day) in his honour.”
More than 90 players will hit the fairways for the two-person ambrose event, with prizes and raffles to be won on the day.
Each team’s entry cost is $120, with a barbecue lunch and snacks provided.
There will also be a raffle drawn, as well as the drawing of the Rotary car raffle following presentations at 5pm.
Play is set to kick-off with a shotgun start at noon.
“We’ve already got a terrific number of players who have registered to play,” Rogash said.
“We have a few prizes to be won on the day such as nearest-the-pin and the straightest drive.
“It’s a really good atmosphere; we have a few come down from Queensland and we all get together and remember Stuart and share memories.”
