The Seymour Football Netball Club has announced its senior coaches to lead the club in the 2025 Goulburn Valley Football Netball League season.

The reappointed Ben Davey will be joined by Jack Murphy, who has stepped up from the senior assistant coach role to share the top football job.

Davey’s coaching resume includes senior GVL premierships and time in North Melbourne’s coaching ranks, while Murphy has learnt the art of coaching in the VFL.

The duo want to help the Lions rebound from a disappointing 2024 season in which Seymour missed the finals with a six-win, 12-loss record, including losses to cellar dwellers Tatura and the Shepparton Bears.

Lions president Gerard O'Sullivan said the club was thrilled to reappoint Davey and Murphy for the 2025 season.

“Murphy has put in an incredible amount of work as a senior assistant coach over the past couple of seasons, and his promotion reflects his dedication to the Lions,” O’Sullivan said.

“We have full confidence in Ben and Jack and look forward to a successful 2025 with them in charge of a fantastic group of young footballers.”

Following Ellie Fuhrmeister’s recent resignation, Casey Adamson will be the Lions’ new A-grade coach.

Adamson returns to her home town with a wealth of experience, including stints with the now-defunct Collingwood Magpies in the Netball Super League and Boroondara Express in the Victorian Netball League.

O’Sullivan said the club was lucky to have a player and person of Adamson’s quality put her hand up for the role.

“To appoint such a quality netballer as A-grade coach from within our ranks is fantastic for the club,” he said.
