Midweek pennant

Division one

For the second time in recent weeks, Seymour secured a win despite only one successful rink. In an exciting match of fluctuating fortunes, Seymour got home by a single shot. They maintain third spot on the ladder.

Max Hammond’s rink had its chances. They were level after 15 ends and only three down with two ends to play. The final deficit was eight shots.

Biggles’ rink controlled the initial stages and looked to be headed for a comfortable win. They were 10 shots clear after 17 ends before falling in a hole. The hosts won seven of the concluding eight ends to win by three shots.

Conversely, Alison Hall’s rink was in real strife after conceding back-to-back fives. They were eight shots behind after seven ends and still six shots in arrears after 16 ends. In an amazing finish they scored 18 unanswered shots to finish 12-shot victors and ensure majority points overall.

Division two

Seymour hosted Mooroopna on the grass and were defeated by 14 shots. They remain in eighth position.

Don Prudden’s rink won the opening end, but were never in the hunt after that. They reduced a game high 15-shot dicit to finish 12 shots in arrears.

Dale Sellick’s rink won 14 ends to their opponents 11, but 13 came in singles. The visitors were three shots up at the finish.

Jenny Kreemer’s rink grabbed the home team’s only points. They lead six shots after 20 ends before wobbling. They re-grouped to win the final two ends in singles for an exciting one-shot victory.

Division five

Seymour remains in seventh spot after going down on all rinks to visiting Kyabram by 28 shots.

Ian Ridd’s rink could only manage to win eight ends, but a couple of fives made for a respectable score line in their seven shot loss.

The honeymoon period ended for skip Nick Munari. His rink was nine shots down after the opening two ends and they won six ends only in the 19-shot defeat.

Jan McCarthy’s rink went closest for Seymour. They lead by a couple of shots after 15 ends, but couldn’t quite finish off. They fell two shots short.

Weekend pennant

Division one

Seymour has maintained top spot on the ladder despite winning only one rink in its 15-shot loss to Tallygaroopna at Shepp Park.

After a slow start, Biggles rink took a slim lead after 14 ends, however seven consecutive losing ends sealed their fate and they went down by seven shots

Max Hammond’s rink led by nine shots after eight ends and still lelt a couple after 19 ends. Tally finished strongly and deserved their five shot win.

Dale Sellick’s rink reduced a 14 shot deficit after 18 ends to just four shots four ends later. Their comeback wasn’t sustained, finishing 13 shots in arrears.

The one bright spot for Seymour was the performance of Graeme Flint’s rink, which started strongly and put the match to bed early, winning 12 of the opening 17 ends. They coasted home for a comfortable 10-shot win.

Division four

Seymour had its first win in over a month when it defeated its highly rated visitors by nine shots, winning three of four rinks. They move up to sixth spot.

Dennis Klein’s rink was slow off the blocks for the second week running, winning only one of the opening six ends. They then took control, winning nine of the next 11 ends and finished well enough for an eight-shot win.

Steve Reed’s rink started well, winning five of the first six ends and maintained a narrow lead for the rest of the contest. They won 14 ends against a strong rink and deserved their four shot victory.

An opening end four set the tone for the Doc’s rink. They never lost the lead and when a 12-shot lead was reduced to just three late in the game, they lifted and put the match to bed winning by nine shots, the best of the day.

Fitzy’s rink had a horror start, winning only four of the first 17 ends and falling 19 shots behind. They made their contribution to the overall victory by reducing the damage to 12 shots.
