While season 2022 hasn’t quite reached its conclusion, the Seymour Football Netball Club took a chance to celebrate the year that was, hosting its annual presentation night last Friday.

Capping off an incredibly successful year that saw six of its nine football and netball teams qualify for the finals, with the A-grade, B-grade and B-reserve netballers set to play off in grand finals this weekend, all awards were closely contested as a big crowd gathered to honour the winners.

On the football side of things, ever-reliable midfielder Jack Murphy took home the top gong, claiming the Mark Cox Medal as the club’s senior best-and-fairest winner after a stellar season.

Young guns Ben Rigoni and Riley Mason rounded out the top three, with the pair each producing break out seasons at senior level.

In the reserves, Jay Eager was recognised as best-and-fairest from Max McLean and Liam Hockley in an entertaining vote count.

While in the junior teams, Angus Murray claimed top honours in the under-18s and Ollie Munro was regarded as the champion player in the under-16s.

On the netball court, Courtney Aldous made it back-to-back A-grade best-and-fairest awards after an incredibly consistent 2022 campaign.

Coach Ellie O’Sullivan and captain Sarah Szczykulski rounded out the top three as the girls prepare to for an opportunity to make it back-to-back premierships against Shepparton United on Sunday,

In the remaining senior grades, Andrea McKenzie (B-grade) and Casey Drummond (B-reserve) secured best-and-fairest awards after standout seasons.

While in the juniors, Ruby Trimble (under-17) and Sophie Allen (under 15) rounded out the best-and-fairest awards.
