Seymour will head into the B reserve grand final on the back of an undefeated season after beating Euroa by 18 goals on Saturday.

With the Lions reserves footballers also in action on Saturday, Kyabram Recreational Reserve had a distinct Seymour flavour to it, with many of the Lions supporters making the 100km trip up the Goulburn Valley Hwy for the finals action.

Despite their previous meeting with the Lions in round nine ending in a 31-goal defeat at the Euroa Memorial Oval, the Magpies did not take a step back in the first quarter and would end up tying the quarter 12-all with the league leaders.

The Lions showed their might in the second, dominating the period 18 goals to six, including a 16-goal-to-three run to take a 12-goal advantage into the main break.

The Magpies were never able to get back into the game in the second half as the Lions cruised to a dominant 18-goal win by the final whistle.

Standout performances on the day for the Lions included Grace Barry controlling the centre of the court, Mia Allen shooting with accuracy and providing plenty of movement in the ring, Sophie Munro creating crucial turnovers and Mariah Baumann’s work on the circle edge.

Coach Courtney Aldous was satisfied with the win and the maturity shown by her players when the game was tight early on.

“Euroa came out firing at the start, giving us a real challenge, but the skill and experience shown by the girls throughout the game to get the win is a real credit to them and made my job as coach effortless,” Aldous said.

She said the team was looking forward to the week off while also remaining focused on the big prize.

“The ladies are very excited about the win and are looking forward to resting tired bodies before giving it their all in the grand final,” she said.

The Lions have this weekend off before taking on the winner of Euroa and Rochester, which is being played at Deakin Reserve in Shepparton at 11:45am on Sunday.
