The Seymour Football Netball Club has locked in a trio of talented players for the 2025 season, with Huw Jones, Nathan Beattie and Riley Mason all putting pen to paper.

The three young guns have each notched up more than 50 senior games and have been making waves with their on-field prowess.

While Jones is unfortunately sidelined for the rest of 2024 due to knee surgery, Mason and Beattie continue to shine.

Mason is currently sitting pretty at number two on the Goulburn Valley League goal kicking ladder, while Beattie has become a force to be reckoned with in the midfield, racking up an impressive average of nearly 35 disposals per game - as calculated by GVL Data.

Mitch Itter, the Football Manager for the Seymour Lions, couldn't hide his excitement about the re-signings.

He said that the news was a major boost for the club heading into the back end of the season.

“All these players are absolutely essential to the future of our club, with plenty of great footy ahead of them,” he said.

“Huw, Riley and Nathan have all stepped up again this season with a few injuries and departures and established themselves as top grade players.

“Riley is proving unstoppable up forward and gives us so much flexibility around the ground, and Nathan has dominated the midfield battle week in, week out.

“Unfortunately, Huw is recovering now from a knee reconstruction, and we wish him all the best with his recovery over the next 12 months.

“We’re looking forward to announcing more re-signings over the course of this season as we look to build into a big 2025.

“We’ve been able to get lots of senior footy into our next generation of stars this year, which will hold us in good shape for the years ahead.”

With these key players recommitting, the Lions are set to roar into the 2025 season with renewed strength, ready to maintain their competitive edge in the Goulburn Valley League.
