Seymour’s Josh Schache has learned whether it’s whoa or go for him at Gosch’s Paddock next season.

The rangy Melbourne forward received news earlier this week his parent club would not offer him a new contract for the 2025 AFL season alongside fellow Demons tall Kyah Farris-White.

It’ll bring an end to an unfortunate spell for the 27-year-old at Demonland.

Schache’s minutes in the AFL have dwindled at Melbourne after the Murray Bushrangers graduate joined Simon Goodwin’s list during the 2022 AFL Trade Period from Western Bulldogs.

He arrived with a bagful of promise, having kicked 53 goals from 45 games at the Dogs between 2018 and 2022.

Prior to that, Schache managed 25 majors in 27 matches at Brisbane from 2016-17.

However, the 199cm full-forward has struggled to break into Melbourne’s 22 for the past two seasons and has only featured four times in an AFL capacity for the Demons while playing 27 games for the club’s VFL outfit.

The former number two draft pick’s delisting alongside Farris-White perhaps comes as no surprise to Melbourne fans, but now eyes will remain peeled to see where the Seymour export will pop up next.

Melbourne list manager Tim Lamb thanked the pair for its dedication throughout its time in the red and blue.

“These decisions are always challenging and, on behalf of everyone at the club, we would like to thank Josh and Kyah for what they have given to our program over the past two years,” Lamb said.

“We wish them both all the best for the next chapter in their respective journeys.”
