Seymour Racing Club announces Euroa promotion ahead of June 16 meeting

Seymour Racing Club and Euroa Football Netball Club could be well intertwined this Sunday.

Seymour Racing Club has confirmed a new fee waiver ahead of its final seasonal weekend meeting on Sunday.

Though Seymour and Euroa football netball clubs are hardly any kind of allies, sharing a hard-fought meeting at the weekend in Goulburn Valley League, the racing club is extending an olive branch to the Magpies ahead of the June 16 meeting.

As a result of the racing club’s incentive, there could be a fair degree of black and white among the races’ usually colourful wardrobe range.

Club chief executive Chris Martin announced the news on Saturday before the football.

“We’re delighted to announce that all members of the Euroa Football Netball Club will receive free entry on the day,” Martin said.

“It’s just a short trip down the GV Highway and we’re looking forward to welcoming members of the Euroa Magpies to Kobyboyn Rd.

“We’ve had a sensational racing season so far, with the Seymour Cup a great success backed up by some fantastic meets like Kids’ Day Out and the return of the Puckapunyal Cup.”

Indeed, this racing season has represented a significant revival for the Seymour club following multiple years of difficulties through a raft of causes, including significant renovations to the facility.

There are other meets due before season’s end at Seymour in the next few weeks, but Sunday represents the final weekend gathering.

“Over the past few years, there’s been a lot of disruption to our club through COVID and some pretty extensive track work, so it’s been great to have racing back in our community in a big way,” Martin said.

“While we’ve still got Monday and Tuesday meets to come next month, our Sunday meet on June 16 is the last chance to enjoy country racing over the weekend until next season.

“This is the perfect opportunity to get your friends and family together to enjoy some weekend entertainment in a welcoming environment.

“Simply present your (Euroa) membership card at the gate and let us take care of you for the day.

“We can’t wait to see members, supporters and people from across the region flock to Seymour and enjoy all country racing has to offer.”
