Seymour secures finals spot with dominant win over Bombers

Seymour has secured a finals spot with a 25-goal win over Kyabram on Saturday.

Seymour has locked in a finals appearance with a comprehensive 25-goal away win against Kyabram.

In windy conditions at Kyabram Recreational Reserve, the Lions went in as big favourites against a Bombers side which only had a single win this season.

With a win guaranteeing them an elimination final date against either Echuca or Tatura, the Lions came bursting out of the blocks with a 17-goal first quarter on the back of excellent shooting by captain Elle Fuhrmeister.

The Lions’ talent began to shine in the second quarter as they kept the Bombers to just six goals for the term to take a 16-goal lead into the main break.

The decision to send defender Ruby Martin into goal attack worked wonders in the third as the Lions stretched the lead to 20 goals.

With the game long put to bed, the Lions consolidated in the last quarter to take an easy win.

“It was an excellent performance by us and our game plan worked as well as it could have,” Fuhrmeister said.

Seymour’s next game, a clash against top-of-the-table Mooroopna, serves as an ideal warm-up for finals, where the standard of play will only increase.
