Seymour charged out of the blocks following the interleague bye to record its third win on the spin on Saturday, taking the spoils over Kyabram at Kyabram Recreation Reserve.

The Lions, well represented the previous week by Sarah Szczyskulski in the Goulburn Valley League’s A-grade interleague win over Ovens and Murray, looked refreshed when taking on the winless Bombers away from home.

A strong showing from Ellie Fuhrmeister’s unit saw Seymour take away four points after recording a 51-34 result, underpinned by top performances from Courtney Aldous, Olivia Barry and Szczykulski herself.

It places the Lions in third spot on the table with a 6-1 ledger.

When viewing the win from a wider perspective, the 17-goal triumph was a crucial one in regards to keeping pace with the competition’s top four, as Euroa handed Tatura its first loss of the season.

Like Seymour, both the Magpies and Bulldogs now boast 6-1 records, while Mooroopna remains the only side to have not dropped a game in 2023.

Seymour is back on its home court this Saturday when it takes on sixth-placed Shepparton at the Kings Park precinct.
