Seymour has made a big announcement for the future of its A-grade netball side.

Star Lions player-coach Ellie Fuhrmeister has decided to step away from coaching responsibilities for the 2025 season.

Fuhrmeister has maintained her status as a gun netballer during her three-year stint as Seymour A-grade coach.

This year, she represented the Goulburn Valley League during its Open interleague match against Ovens and Murray.

The talented goaler will continue to feature on court for the Lions next season.

Fuhrmeister played her first A-grade match for Seymour in 2013; since then, she has won three A-grade premierships (one as captain), coached every grade at the Lions from under-15 onwards and has represented the Goulburn Valley League in interleague matches three times.

The star netballer’s final match as head coach of Seymour was the Lions’ 41-34 elimination final loss to Echuca.

Seymour released a statement following Fuhrmeister’s decision to step away from coaching.

“Ellie has been a crucial part of our club as a player and coach over a long period of time and we’re incredibly grateful for the work she’s put in,” the club statement said.

“Our club’s netball program has gone from strength to strength under Ellie’s leadership and as a coach she leaves a lasting legacy on our club.

“The three senior netball premierships the Lions took home in 2022 stand alone as the greatest netball achievement in GVL history.

“Ellie is a Lion great through and through and we can’t wait to see her back on court in a playing role next season.”

Casey Adamson will coach the Lions’ A-grade side in 2025.

Returning to her home town club, Adamson brings a wealth of experience to Kings Park, having previously played for the Collingwood Magpies in the Super Netball League and the Boroondara Express in the Victorian Netball League.
