Shepparton Golf received a Valentine’s Day delivery in the form of a Edna Harling Shield double chance on Tuesday.

The Golfers pipped Shepparton Park for second spot on the Goulburn Valley Playing Area division one table by one point after the last round of home and away matches.

It was a 16-93 to 0-46 triumph over reigning premier Tatura-Hill Top which secured the double chance for Golf, with Wayne Gribble’s 38-13 rink win doing most of the damage.

But getting all 16 points was crucial, meaning Kris Wright’s 23-20 win and John Stokes’ 32-13 victory were just as important.

The Parkers could only manage a 14-81 to 2-68 win over Seymour on Tuesday, leaving the side one point short of the Golfers and four points short of minor premier Kyabram.

Ian Eichfuss’ rink was the foursome which scuppered the Parkers’ double chance, winning 32-17.

Kyabram had a 14-68 to 2-65 win over East Shepparton to sit atop the table, but the Eagles still managed to sneak into fourth spot and book a finals place.

Euroa (88) defeated Rushworth (55) on all rinks in the other clash of the round.
