Six of the Seymour district’s best footballers have been awarded for their excellent seasons.

Avenel’s Braydon Avola, Joshua Delaney, Nagambie’s Blake Fothergill, Jonathon Moore, Mark Nolan as well as Longwood’s Jye Formosa have all been named in the Kyabram District Football Netball League’s team of the year.

Additionally, Swans captain Avola was named the captain of the squad at the league’s presentation night held at The GV Hotel in Shepparton on September 19.

The Swans duo’s and Lakers trio’s performances across the season helped both sides to finals appearances, which, in Avenel case, was ended by Nagambie to the tune of 42 points in their elimination match-up.

The Lakers would fall at the next hurdle, going down to eventual runners-up Shepparton East by 27 points.

After a miserable 2022 season in which they went winless in seniors and won only three games in reserves, Formosa has been instrumental in turning the Redlegs into a competitive side during the last two seasons.

His leadership at Longwood Recreation Reserve was recognised by the KDFNL, who named him vice captain of the squad.
