Do you want to join a great family-friendly sporting club at a reasonable price?

Then Finley Squash Club is the place to be.

Located at the Returned Soldiers Club in Finley, the squash club has been a fixture of the region for many years.

Club secretary Shania Bentley said the club, unlike many others, was active year-round.

“There are four competitions per year plus a championships, plus several junior tournaments,” she said.

The club has about 100 players and is open to anyone aged 10 and above.

Competition is split into two divisions and caters to all skill levels.

Facilities include two courts, one with a viewing area that allows spectators to watch from behind the players.

The club has its own coach, Brett Murphy, who runs both personal and group training sessions for players of all levels.

Ms Bentley said squash was a great game, and the club was an awesome avenue to improve one’s health while enjoying a great social life.

“It’s a great sport for fitness, it is great for mobility and flexibility and, of course, the social side of it as well,” she said.

“It is a great family sport for juniors to help with their co-ordination.”

Playing at Finley Squash Club won’t break the bank, with each competition running from eight to 10 weeks and costing $40 for juniors and $50 for adults.

Ms Bentley said for anyone interested in playing squash, the best thing to do was to give it a go.

“Don’t be afraid to give squash a try; everyone has to start somewhere,” she said.

“Finley is very welcoming and encourages all new and past players to join.”
