Moama has continued to put in strong performances in the Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields Region Premier League, picking up two wins over the past fortnight.
After all action was washed out on November 30, the defending champion returned to the greens on December 6, visiting Bendigo East for a grand final rematch.
A strong team performance saw the Steamers take three of four rinks, running up big scores in two as they logged a 16-91 to 2-67 victory.
Skip Alex Marshall guided his squad of Jim Hogan (lead), Glenn Dorward (second) and Travis Kelly (third) to a big 32-17 win, closely followed by Kevin Anderson’s quartet, who took their rink 29-15.
Matt Robertson also skipped a successful Moama side, 19-13, while only Bendigo East skip Marc Smith could mastermind any success for the host, taking the remaining rink 22-11.
Moama followed up at the weekend where it prevailed in a tight contest, 14-87 to 4-82, over South Bendigo.
Marshall’s rink again proved successful for Moama, the Steamers taking it 27-14, but on this occasion fellow skip Cameron Keenan joined him in the winners' circle, leading his foursome of Jacob Brighton (lead), Emma Simmonds (second), and Cass Millerick to a 24-13 victory.
South Bendigo had plenty of quality on the greens and also managed to take two rinks, skip Brad Holland getting up 29-19, while teammate Dale Oddy earned a 26-17 win.
Fortunately for the locals, the Moama margins of victory were slightly stronger than South Bendigo’s and the Steamers took overall honours by five shots.
After a couple of losses in the early rounds, Moama has been unbeaten since November 16, currently in second spot on the league table with 94 points.
Bendigo is currently holding on to top spot with 101 points, only suffering one defeat so far this season.
The competition will now go into hiatus over the Christmas break, action set to resume on January 18 with the Steamers hosting third-placed Golden Square at Moama Bowling Club.
