Rochester trainers Caitlin Guppy and Mark Thompson produced winners at last week’s Bendigo meeting.

Guppy struck with 30/1 chance Noble Julia who had her nose out in a grandstand finish in which just 2.20 metres separated the first five placegetters.

Guppy also had the more fancied runner in the race, Mynameisruby who was the $3.50 favourite.

Zac Phillips did the driving honours on Noble Julia, an eight-year-old Julius Ceasar mare who chalked up her sixth career win with her success.

Mark Thompson produced two-year-old Captain Crunch gelding Nugget Rogers for his debut win at only his third start.

Reinsman Jack Laugher took him straight to the front from barrier two and he was never in danger of defeat with the $2.80 favourite Ultimate Micki finishing second, 3.30 metres from the winner.

Nugget Rogers had finished third at his previous and second career start at Mildura on October 11 and was well fancied in the betting as a $3 second favourite.

He is out of the Art Major mare Manellira, a three times winner from only eight career starts and left another winner, Katunga Express, who won three and placed five times in only nine trips to the races.

Nanneella trainer Col Godden has also savoured successive wins lately with his pacer Epic Orion.

The five-year-old changeover gelding won at the Kilmore meeting on October 24 and at Shepparton last week.

Tasmyn Potter drove Epic Orion to his win at Kilmore and Lisa Pitt partnered him in his Shepparton win, his eleventh career success.
