The tale of the Goulburn Valley League home and away season has been written; now it is time to scribe the scintillating, pulsating and jubilating short story that will be the 2024 finals series.

The final round of football and netball action was completed on Saturday afternoon, with Echuca claiming the senior, reserves and under-18 football minor premierships.

In the netball, Mooroopna won the race to the A-grade minor premiership, edging out rivals Euroa and Echuca.

Meanwhile, the results were reversed in B-grade, with Euroa finishing in first place over second-placed Mooroopna — a sign of the two clubs’ dominance in the top netball divisions.

Following the conclusion of round 18, the league announced the dates, times and locations of the first round of the 2024 finals series on its Facebook page.

This year’s finals promise to be captivating and will start this weekend with some must-see encounters.

In the senior football, Shepparton will look to redeem itself when it takes on Echuca in the qualifying final at Tatura Park on Saturday.

Both sides only lost one match during the season, with Shepparton’s being a 70-point defeat to Echuca.

Meanwhile, old rivals Mooroopna and Kyabram will meet in a do-or-die elimination final at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

Rochester and Euroa round out the senior fixtures on Sunday at Victoria Park.
