Air supply is becoming thin at the summit of Shepparton District Tennis Association’s top division.

Five rounds have passed in the 2024-25 campaign and, with a third of the regular season completed, a trio of outfits are locked at the top of the A1 grade on 12 points apiece.

Karramomus leads the pack on game percentage after their 6-48 to 3-28 victory over Lemnos on Friday night, warding off the challenge of the division’s bottom-ranked side.

The majority of rubbers were close in nature, but Karramomus’ Stephanie Veal was a cut above as she masterminded two 6-0 smashings.

Meanwhile, McEwen Reserve Red joined Karramomus on 12 points after it skipped past Central Park on home court in Saturday’s sole hit-out.

Leading men Ben Ladson and Brett Collins were crucial for Red, each involved in three triumphant matches as the host secured an 8-52 to 1-30 victory.

And in the other Friday night affair, McEwen Reserve Gold made up some key ground on Shepparton North courtesy of a superb 8-52 to 1-26 drubbing.

Lloyd Akers starred in two 6-1 rubber wins, while Clark Pettigrew and Kellie Crosier managed North’s only victory, toppling Josh Mei and Sofia Stojanovski 6-4.

Gold now sits fourth on 10 points, only two adrift of North.

In A2 grade, Karramomus continued their grip on the division with a 9-54 to 0-12 win over Murchison to go four points clear at the top of the table, while St Andrew’s found its third success of the season after powering past Central Park 8-52 to 1-20.
