Tom ties as most valuable player

After a fantastic season of senior football, Finley’s Tom Lang tied as the Eagle i T-L Irrigation Most Valuable Player for 2023.

Lang tied with Mulwala’s Owen Conway for the prestigious Murray Football Netball League award capping off a great season for the duo.

Lang also came third in the League Goal Kicking with 89 goals for the year.

The vote count was held on Sunday at the Moama Bowling Club.

In the reserves football B & F count, Finley players James Kennedy and Paul Massingham received 13 and eight votes respectively.

The under-17s footballers did well, with three Finley players scoring high votes.

Harry Boyd had 20 votes, Lenny Dottoli 14 and Angus Hay 12.

Liam Rafferty received a rising star nomination.

In the C-reserve netball B & F count, Finley netballer Elyse Price had 15 votes to be in sixth place and fellow Cat Karen Donkin had 11 votes to place 10th.

in the under-17s Finley’s Kate Purtill had 26 votes, finishing in third place, and Daisy Daniel had 22 votes finishing fifth overall.

In the under-15s Finley had Paige Grey receive 23 votes and Olivia Thompson received 19 votes.

In the under-13s Bella Rourke placed ninth in the vote count.

Netballers Jordan Gray and Cassidy Reynolds received Rookie of the Year nominations.

The Finley Football Netball Club commented saying “we are lucky to have fantastic young talent coming through”.

“We are looking forward to seeing what the future brings for these young players,” the club said.
