Tongala is flying to start the 2023 season.
Sitting 4-0, Tongala is one of the form sides of the competition after knocking off Cobram in round four action at the weekend.
It is one of two undefeated sides left standing after adding the Tigers to the list of teams which have fallen in the Blues’ fast start to the season.
It was an impressive 30-goal win over Cobram that kept the Blues’ run alive, claiming a 53-23 triumph after a blistering first-quarter performance.
Tongala couldn’t be caught after quarter-time and is now off to its best start to a season since 2018.
Blues coach Grace Hammond said she was pleased with the entire squad’s performance.
“It was just a solid game by everyone,” Hammond said.
“It was a good game to try some combinations and whatever we threw out on to the court worked in our favour.
“Corey Drennan played her best game of the season so far, but to be honest, I could have put the names in a hat for best-on-court.”
Tongala has now moved up into second spot, sharing unbeaten status with reigning premier Deniliquin.
“It’s pretty exciting to be four and zip, especially with such a young group,” Hammond said.
“We’re just taking it week-by-week and we’re definitely not getting ahead of ourselves by any means.”
The Blues will be aiming to make it five wins when they face grand finalist Rumbalara this Saturday.
Rumbalara is coming off a 24-goal loss to Echuca United in round four and Hammond is expecting a tough encounter.
“It’s always a solid hit-out against Rumba,” Hammond said.
“They’re a good group of girls who play a different brand of netball and I’m excited to see how the girls stand up.”
