The 2023 University Mixed Ultimate Frisbee Championships held in Cobram between Monday, June 26 and Thursday, June 29 has been declared a great success.

Students from multiple universities attended the multi-day sporting event with Australian National University taking out gold, RMIT City Campus taking silver and Deakin University Burwood getting bronze.

Cobram Barooga Business and Tourism committee member Tony Tranter said a good time was had by all.

“It was a big success and great for the town. I think participants had a great time,” Mr Tranter

There were roughly 200 participants from University and TAFE teams from all over Australia and New Zealand at the multi-day sports event and at least a hundred additional supporters.

Cobram Barooga Business and Tourism group has estimated the regional economic boost from hosting the event was around $200,000 when costs such as food, drink and accommodation are factored in.

Asked if the event will be held in Cobram again next year, Mr Tranter was enthusiastic about the possibility.

“We always assess things every year. However the guys from Vic Ultimate were very happy with the event,” he said.
