The Veterans Cricket Victoria Echuca Carnival is under way for 2025.
The 12th year of the carnival features 28 teams of over 60s cricketers playing at grounds across the region in Echuca, Moama, Kyabram, Rochester, Bamawm, Cooma, Gunbower, Cohuna, Nathalia, Rushworth, Barham, Girgarre, Koondrook and Yalca.
The round-robin tournament is held over four days, beginning on Sunday, March 16, and concluding on Wednesday, March 17, with Tuesday serving as a rest day.
Four separate divisions are divided further into pools of four, teams playing three games, one each against their pool opponents.
Some day one action was disrupted by showers, the Duckworth-Lewis calculator coming out to decide some games, but clear and cool weather on Monday served as ideal conditions for teams' second fixtures.
Riverine Herald journalist Matthew Kappos was on hand to capture some of the action from the division two contest between Research Eltham Collegians and Mornington Peninsula at Echuca South Recreation Reserve on Monday.
Batting first, Mornington made 4-220, while Eltham could manage only 8-166 in response.
