Benalla Bushrangers have found themselves on the brink of defeat in their two-day Wangaratta and District Cricket Association A-grade clash against Yarrawonga Mulwala following yet another batting collapse.

Winning the toss and electing to bat at Benalla Gardens Oval, the Bushies were unable to take advantage of the perfect conditions, as they were rolled for just 85 from 49.4 overs.

They then did not fare much better with ball in hand, with Yarrawonga Mulwala sitting at 1-59 at the end of the first day’s play, and 26 runs away from securing victory.

The only Bushranger to pass 20 on the day, Simon Briggs was the standout for the home side as he struck a patient 25 off 68 deliveries to offer some resistance for his side.

Ensign photographer Brenden Paddock made his way out to Benalla Gardens Oval and captured the first day’s play.
