Women’s squad announced for Goulburn Valley Playing Area Rowlands-Sutcliffe Trophy Challenge
“Let’s go, girls.”
Shania Twain coined the term in the intro to her iconic ’90s single Man! I Feel Like A Woman!, but now it’s time for the region’s premier female bowlers to channel the phrase.
Following the men’s announcement, Goulburn Valley Playing Area has revealed its squad of 24 women set to take on Murray Playing Area for the Rowlands-Sutcliffe Trophy.
The GVPA squares off with its northern rival at Shepparton Golf Bowls Club on November 10, seeking to keep the trophy in its own cabinet for the fourth time since the challenge series was launched.
While the men’s squad is comprised of eight division one teams, the women’s side has a vaster spread of electives.
The 24 names hail from 12 clubs from the wider region, stretching from Avenel to Tatura and everywhere in between.
Powerhouse Shepparton Park boasts the biggest representation with six players, closely followed by Mooroopna with four.
All of the women selected will look to impress at the Rowlands-Sutcliffe Trophy Challenge in hopes of locking down a spot in the Goulburn Murray Bowls Region combine squad taking on the Ovens and Murray at Wunghnu Bowls Club on December 1.
From there, the contingent will be refined further for the Bowls Victoria 2025 Region Sides Championships held in Ballarat on January 10-12.
