Woofa’s race this Saturday

Over 80 cyclists are expected to compete in the third annual Ian (Woofa) Davis Memorial Cycling Festival this Saturday, August 31.

Cyclists are expected from clubs from all over Victoria and southern NSW and of course Albury Wodonga Cycling Club (who are running the event) including members of the Yarrawonga Mulwala community

The handicap road race will be 74km leaving from the outskirts of Yarrawonga and include two laps of the Hammons Rd-Wilby loop.

Winner and fastest time in 2023 from the scratch group, Josh Steevens from Latrobe City Cycling Club in 2:03:44, is hopeful to be here also to defend his title.

Albury Wodonga Cycling Club’s secretary Karen Mann said the support from the local community has again been amazing. “Our thanks go out to them all for keeping Woofa's memory alive,” she told the Yarrawonga Chronicle. Juniors are a focus for Woofa.

“Brett Lancaster OAM will certainly be there and likely a race starter together with his son Luca,” she said.

Woofa's widow Glenys and daughter Kellie will again assist with presentations and we look forward to the family boys racing in memory of their father and grandfather.
