Yarroweyah entered round eight of the Picola and District football season still searching for its first win.
Coming off a 338-point loss to Waaia the previous weekend, the Hoppers were back on home turf and began strongly against Rennie.
Encouraged by their loyal fan base, Yarroweyah went into the first break with a seven-point lead, 4.3.27 to 3.2.20.
Having been held scoreless by Waaia in round seven, this was the confidence-boosting start Yarroweyah needed.
Unfortunately, Yarroweyah was unable to maintain the momentum as Rennie gradually got on top in the battle of the Hoppers, opening a 23-point half-time margin.
A goal apiece in the third quarter meant Yarroweyah went into the final term trailing 8.5.53 to 11.11.77, with victory still a possibility.
It was all one-way traffic in the fourth quarter though, Rennie cruising to a 50-point victory, 8.5.53 to 15.13.103.
Baylee Morton, Kyle McKenzie and Mitch Dickason each kicked two goals for Yarroweyah, with singles to Dustan Ebborn and Mitchell Paterson.
Yarroweyah’s best players were Corey Reardon, Jonathan Slatterie, Mitchell Paterson, Baylee Morton, Dustan Ebborn and Amiel Fa’A.
Rennie’s Denver Bruce kicked five goals to be the game’s leading goalscorer.
Yarroweyah travels to Katamatite this Saturday to face the Tigers.
