AFL Giants star Harvey Thomas, who has family ties to Yarrawonga, has been rewarded for a strong campaign with the weekly round 14 Telstra AFL Rising Star Award.
Thomas is the son of Russell and Jo Thomas and grandson to James and Lorraine Cummins and Graeme and Elaine Thomas.
The talented small forward, a ‘Giants Academy’ product, picked as No.59 in last years draft, had another impressive performance in Sunday’s win over Port Adelaide.
Thomas finished with 15 disposals, 5 tackles and 1 goal in the Giants 22-point victory.
The 18-year-old left-footer has played an impressive 13 games for the Giants this season, averaging 11.7 disposals and 3.1 tackles per game.
Sunday’s win over the Power was crucial for the Giants, who jumped into fifth spot on the ladder with a 8-5 victory ahead of a massive game against the Swans on Saturday.
