Abbey and Dusty spent 12 years together before they eventually tied the knot.

Dusty was actually best friends with Abbey’s brother, which she admitted made it awkward at first.

“It was a little touchy at the start but it worked out well in the end,” Abbey said.

“My brother was in our wedding as one of the groomsmen and pronounced us husband and wife.”

Abbey spoke about how being able to share the moment with friends and family made it the best day of their lives.

“It was great sharing it with all of our friends and family, we are from Bendigo but are currently living in the Northern Territory,” she said

“But due to COVID we hadn’t been able to go back and visit as much.”

Abbey said with all the uncertainty due to COVID-19 restrictions she was glad to have their ceremony.

“There was a little uncertainty that the wedding would go ahead,” she said.

“So to be able to have the wedding and catch up with everyone was a blessing.”

She spoke about how she dealt with a bride’s shining moment in walking down the aisle.

“I didn’t think I’d get that nervous.

“Our guest list was about 180, so we had quite a few people, so that made the walk pretty daunting.

“With that amount of people and all their attention is on you can be nerve-racking.”

The couple loves the Echuca-Moama area which is what inspired them to pick Perricoota Station as their wedding venue.

“We have always grown up around the Echuca area,” Abbey said.

“Every summer we would go up to the river and spend a lot of time on the water.

“We both wanted our special day to be there and our venue Perricoota Station was just beautiful.”

The vibe of the wedding was very relaxed and was very much about the Murray River and the Echuca-Moama area.

Abbey spoke about the planning process which was pretty difficult for her having to organise things from the Northern Territory.

“It was hard being up in the Northern Territory and not being able to see everything in person,” she said.

“So I had to do a lot of guess work and hope it will do.”

The couple thanked all the vendors who helped greatly in ensuring their special day went to plan.

“All the vendors where very helpful and made the wedding planning very easy,” Abbey said.

“I sent through to the florist what I wanted and they did it perfectly.

“It took a lot of time and work but it was all worth it.”

“Everything worked out perfectly and came out exactly as I imagined.”
