Weddings don’t always have to be over the top and large events, as shown by Jacqui and Adam’s intimate wedding on the beautiful M.V. Mary Ann houseboat.

They have known each other for a very long time and are school sweethearts, as they attended both primary school and secondary school together.

Jacqui said the couple enjoyed the scenery being on the Murray River and having a small wedding with those there that they love dearly.

“We culled our wedding list down to 60 guests mainly due to COVID restrictions,” Jacqui said.

“It made the ceremony so intimate and the moment more special.”

Jacqui said what the couple enjoyed most about having a small guest list was it gave them the ability to go around and speak to everyone.

“I really enjoyed being able to go around and have a lengthy conversation with everyone which would be pretty difficult to do with a massive guest list,” she said.

“It was very difficult having to cut back on the guest list as we had people who we ideally wanted to be there.”

Jacqui said she couldn’t have asked for a better day for their wedding day.

“The weather was just perfect, we were on the river and everything just fell right into place.

“Relief that it was happening, the hot weather and there were a few little nerves as I walked down the aisle.”

The couple also chose the luxurious M.V. Mary Ann because of the picturesque views of the Murray and the greater chance of the event going ahead with it being in NSW.

“At the time when we booked, things where more relaxed in NSW and with the Mary Ann on that side, it was a safer bet to book it with them,” Jacqui said.

“I know what I want, it was more the stress of whether we would go into lockdown and the event would go ahead.”

The houseboat is two levels which provided a different dynamic for a wedding.

The ceremony was held upstairs on the second level and the formal dinner was downstairs.

Later in the evening the top level became the dance floor, so those who wanted to sit and talk stayed on bottom level.
